The 2025 edition of the FICEM Technical Congress (Inter-American Cement Federation), held in Lima, Peru, was much more than a technical event. It established itself as an essential meeting point for key players in the Latin American cement industry, where specialized knowledge blends with the value of human relationships and collaborative work. For Servimex and Argus, it was a unique opportunity to share, learn, and strengthen partnerships aimed at a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future.
One of the main themes that marked this year’s conversations was operational safety. Today, many plants prioritize safe conditions to the point of justifying delays or halting work. Across presentations and technical talks, a single message was clear: nothing comes before the safety of personnel and infrastructure.
During our participation, we emphasized how Servimex and Argus implement strict protocols in every phase of operation: from maintenance of bucket elevators, burners, or explosion relief doors, to the installation of systems such as Thorwesten Vent and robecco solutions, which are essential for preventing explosion risks in grinding, storage, and solid fuel handling zones.
The second major theme was reducing the carbon footprint. Cement plants are accelerating their transition from fossil fuels to RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuels). In this context, Unitherm’s solutions—such as the satellite burner combined with thermal optimization of preheaters using PMT technologies—enable higher process efficiency without compromising clinker quality.
At the event, we shared experiences with these systems, which have been crucial in various international projects, such as the start-up and operation of the Unitherm burner at Cemex Brooksville Plant in Florida, USA, where we also provided training and technical advisory services.
As we shared on our channels: “FICEM is not just a technical congress, it’s also a way to connect and create synergy with other providers and colleagues.”
This year’s event facilitated close, collaborative dialogues and strengthened relationships with strategic partners from across the region. We exchanged ideas, discussed common challenges, and explored innovative proposals that enrich the efforts of those working for a cleaner, safer, and more efficient industry.
At Servimex and Argus, we are deeply grateful for the invitation to FICEM 2025. We return with new knowledge, refreshed ideas, and—most importantly—the conviction that teamwork, continuous training, and responsible innovation are the pillars that will sustain the evolution of the Latin American cement industry in the years to come.
We remain committed to building solutions that serve a constantly transforming sector.
